In Góra Świętej Anny, Poland, an important Catholic place of pilgrimage, a memorial in the form of an amphitheatre and a Freikorps memorial was erected in the 1930s for the fallen German Freikorps fighters in the context of the battles on Annaberg in 1921. The memorial was dismantled after 1945 and a memorial to the Polish insurgents was erected in its place in 1955. The amphitheatre continued to be used for events after the monument was rebuilt with slight modifications.
